It is an evidenced based treatment that is proven to be successful with children experiencing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>oppositional\/defiant behaviors<\/li>\n<li>disruptive behaviors<\/li>\n<li>adjustment problems ( including adoption, divorce or other changes)<\/li>\n<li>Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)<\/li>\n<li>frequent tantrums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>It also helps children impacted by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Change (relocation, separation of parents)<\/li>\n<li>Developmental delays<\/li>\n<li>Abuse\/neglect<\/li>\n<li>Adoption<\/li>\n<li>Anxiety<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 Goals of PCIT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve your relationship with your child<\/li>\n<li>Improve your child\u2019s minding and listening<\/li>\n<li>Increase your child\u2019s ability to manage frustration\/anger<\/li>\n<li>Increase your child\u2019s\u00a0positive social skills<\/li>\n<li>Improve attention skills<\/li>\n<li>Improve self esteem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What does treatment look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parent and Child are together during sessions<\/li>\n<li>Sessions take place weekly for about 12 weeks<\/li>\n<li>Therapist coaches parents, helping them learn and practice behavior management\u00a0skills through a \u2018bug in the ear\u2019 device to shape behaviors \u2018in the moment\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Parents practice skills daily at home<\/li>\n<li>Two phases of treatment:\u00a0First \u00a0phase focuses on improving the parent-child \u00a0relationship.\u00a0\u00a0Second phase teaches effective discipline skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who is PCIT for?
